Research Facilities


There are five different laboratories under CSE department, each consisting of a number of workstations and serving different purposes.

Software Engineering Laboratory

This lab has 25 workstations having Intel Core 2 duo processors, 4 GB RAM and 17" monitors. These powerful machines are capable of running state of the art software environments and performing computing intensive tasks.

Multimedia Laboratory

This lab consists of 24 workstations, each having Pentium 4 2.4 GHz processors and 512 MB of RAM. There is also a 3-D projector environment, enabling students to perform multimedia research.

Hardware Laboratory

This lab consists of 22 workstations having Pentium 4 processors ranging from 1.7 GHz to 3 GHz. Old workstations and various computer accessories are also available to provide students with the practical knowledge of the computer hardware.

Network Laboratory

In this lab there are 24 workstations consisting of Core 2 Duo and Pentium 4 processors. Networking equipments like switch, router, hubs, and access points are available.

Sun Lab

The latest addition to the department, the Sun lab consists of 25 Sun Solaris clients and a powerful Sun server at the backend. Students can get acquainted with the Solaris 10 operating system and practice their UNIX knowledge in this lab.


The Library has a present floor area of 1300 sq. meter with shelf space of 52,000 books. It stands close to the administrative and academic buildings. The library is fully air-conditioned and well furnished with modern furniture. It is a compact Library with built in facilities to provide various services towards the students, faculty and researchers and to perform the administrative and technical jobs. Besides the textbooks IUT Library have the collection of reference books. It consists mainly of data book, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, manual, world almanac etc. is housed in reference section.

To provide faster and up-to-date information, IUT Library provides Internet searching services to its users with high speeds. All users can browse, download, and print information materials from web resources. CD writing facilities are also available.

On-line Journal and e-resource

IUT information users have access to on-line journals and e-books of PERI (Programme for Enhancement of Research Information) Programme of INASP (International Network on Availability of Scientific Publications) of UK. More than five thousand titles of journal of different disciplines like science and technology, engineering, computer science, environmental science, education, social science, life science etc. of the renowned publishers now available on-line for IUT information user.
