The focus of Systems and Software Lab (SSL) is on the experimental design, implementation, and evaluation of systems, software, and technologies that enable the development of a wide range of emerging applications. The group brings together Human–Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing to develop intelligent and human-centered technologies. Our research includes sensor-based activity recognition, eye and gaze tracking, human intention and attention detection, hand and body gesture recognition, and assistive technologies. Building on these foundations, we are actively exploring Human–AI collaboration, human-centered NLP, intelligent and agent-based interactions, Bangla and low-resource language technologies, sign language recognition, speech emotion recognition, and mental-health applications, including depression detection, mental-health conversation analysis, and topic classification in Bangla empathetic conversations.

The group also actively participates in software engineering research, social network mining, and emerging areas of intelligent systems. Our previous work includes software repository mining to improve software reusability, understanding code usage and reuse patterns, and mining social networks for recommendation systems. More recently, our research has expanded into large language models, generative AI, mathematical and multimodal reasoning, multi-agent systems, retrieval-augmented generation, and conversational AI. Through dataset development, model design, system implementation, and empirical evaluation, we aim to develop reliable, accessible, and effective technologies that address real-world challenges.
